NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR AGRICULTURAL AND FOOD RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY (INIA)

The National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA) is an autonomous Public Research Organisation (OPI) of the State Secretariat of Research, Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness. As a Public Research Organization it has a dual function, being responsible for the management and coordination of agrifood research at the national level and for the execution of research projects, in close collaboration with the relevant socioeconomic sectors. INIA must provide responses in the agro-food, forestry and food fields, managing and implementing research and technological innovation skills.

The aims of the INIA group EDTC (Endocrine Disruption and Toxicity of Contaminants) are the study of specific mechanisms underlying toxic action of contaminants, particularly endocrine disruptors and manufactured nanoparticles by in vitro and in vivo studies. The group members have been involved on chemical safety assessment, from a scientific perspective, in the regulatory frameworks of REACH, Biocides, Plant protection products, and Contaminants. Currently, as a charge of the Ministry of Environment the group participates in the process of classification and labelling of biocides and plant protection products and at the national register of these compounds in the framework of the regulations of biocides and plant protection products.
