ITENE is a Research Institute constituted in 1994 as a private non-profit entity integrated with businesses, entities and institutions related to Packaging, Transport and Logistics.

ITENE’s safety division, specifically the research group on emerging risks will be directly involved in this proposal. This division has a high experience, at European level, within the following areas related to this project:

  • Development of multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) models and evidential reasoning algorithms to support decision making by expert and non-expert users
  • Validation of predictive models based on Read Across and Quantitative structure-activity relationship (Q)SAR approaches to support hazard profiling of substances on a regulatory basis
  • Development of bayesian methodologies to predict toxicity
  • Implementation of decision support systems into external databases and web services
  • Quantitative assessment of the levels of exposure to chemicals by means of high sensitive real time exposure monitoring devices for indoor and outdoor exposure characterization
  • Development of procedures and strategies to manage the risk posed by the use of hazardous chemicals
  • Application of (Q)SAR to derive REACH relevant endpoints
  • Implementation of safety management systems.

In addition, this Division is coordinator of several projects at European level related to this project, such as: NANOMICEX – coordinator - (7FP NMP), REACHnano (LIFE 2011)-coordinator, NANOSAFEPACK – scientific coordinator - (7FP SME Associations). ITENE has also participated in other LIFE funded projects.
